About The Project
This lovely couple had been trying to find the perfect home in the area for a while but as the demand is so high homes get sold the second they hit the market (if not sooner). Situated on sought after London Road in Shrewsbury, this grand home now belongs to married couple Scott and Sophie. They had been trying to find the perfect home in the area for a while but as the demand is so high homes get sold the second they hit the market (if not sooner). They decided to just post some handwritten letters through all the houses they liked the look of. The choice of relocation from Staffordshire to Shrewsbury was due to their two children would begin school in Shrewsbury.
The start of the project was to clear a lot of the front side of the house. Huge trees were creating a lot of damp being so close to the house and exposing what a beautiful home this is was key before getting started inside.
Scott and Sophie are a vibrant fun couple so they’re amazing clients to get involved with on the renovation journey. They decided first jobs were to create a family snug room, convert the downstairs cloakroom and build a large bathroom. Later on became the the full decoration to the rest of the property, a cinema room, study room, boot room and some external work to the 60 sash windows.
The owner, Scott, wanted a Home Office so a small extension to the rear of the property with kitchenette and toilet was created.
From The Client
Challenges
Some of the original fascia mouldings were heavily damaged due to weathering so many gruelling days restoring them was a challenge.
Perhaps the biggest project on the property was the knock through of two rooms to create a large bathroom. Waste pipework took some time to get right with the new layout of the room.
Special Skills Employed
The boot room was a large transformation for Scott and Sophie, they needed a place for washing clothes, dumping muddy footwear and coats, so a handmade and painted utility area was designed and built.
Many days restoring of the original entrance hall and dining room floors really made it worth while as we revealed some stunning border detailing that had been covered from years of foot fall.
